Hard Web pricing and clients Newsletter January 2004

Hello to my clients, and WELCOME!

You have reached 2004 and it's time to start working smarter not harder or longer.

TIP 1.
Are you keeping your email lists up to date?
If you have clients that you want to email to tell them of monthly specials or offers, keep them in a special folder (or group) in your address book.

  • Go to Outlook Express (or Outlook) if that is your email programme and open your address book
  • Go to New/Group and pick out the people you want from your address book whom you think will be interested in your current offers.
  • When it comes to sending the email (or sending a webpage like this one) just put the whole group either in the To: <field> or the BCC: <field> which stands for Blind Carbon Copy and means they will not see who else you have sent the email to, this is considered more polite as you are not sending everyone's email address to everyone else and they may prefer to have their email address kept private.

New Year Free Offer from HardWeb!

Now where did that come from?
My offer is that if you forward this email on to a person whom you may think may be interested in my services and they become a client of mine and they spend over $500 on a website then I will prepare a Search Engine Placement report for (one of) your website(s)!
That report will cover where you site comes up on the major search engines (Google, MSN, Yahoo) with a variety of keywords which I think an average person who is looking for your services would input. I value it at over $100!
If you can't wait to see if one of your associates signs up for a website and would like this report anyway please contact me.

This report is a useful tool over time to compare where you rank against your competitors and I will advise you how to improve your ranking.

TIP TWO.
Have you checked the expiry date of your domain name lately?
Sometimes the email address which is the contact address may not be correct and you haven't got the emails warning you of expiry.
Go to http://whois.melbourneit.com.au/ if you have a dot com or dot net (.com or .net)to check your expiry date (and contact email) or
Go to http://whois-generic.ausregistry.net.au/ if you have a dot com dot au (.com.au) or dot net dot au (.net.au) and make sure the email address for contact is still viable. If it is not then you will have to get it changed.
Make sure that when you register your domain name you keep all the details and email and especially the registry keys, passwords and AuthInfo details. It is much easier to do this stuff when you are still registered than when it is expired.

Did you know that HardWeb tutors people in their home or office in Programs such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Windows?
It only costs $50 per hour plus $25 to come to your place!
Many clients have been surprised how easy is to learn how to update their own webpages using FTP and Dreamweaver.
Contact me of 07 5526 2939 or email me if you are interested.

LAST TIP
Thanks for being patient!
If you want to send a webpage (like this one) as an email;

  • Go to the webpage that you want to send (possibly one of your own webpages)
  • Go to Tools / Mail and News / Send Page
  • Your email programme will open and you can send it off
  • You can also add a message in the webpage or modify the webpage as you see fit.

It's that easy!

Bye for now, I think I'd better update my webpage it's looking a bit...old.

kind regards
David Thatcher, HardWeb

PS Next newsletter will contain How to do a signature (thing at bottom of email so you don't have to keep typing it out) and Drop down Menus which are all the rage, (those bits that drop down like in Windows that are within the webpage).
If you want them contact me , I know , I know you've already heard that bit. Seeya!
